Welcome!
Jul 30, 2026
Beginnings are funny.
You plan for them. You think about them. And then when they finally arrive they feel both bigger and smaller than you expected.
This is mine.
My name is Krista.
I'm a licensed psychotherapist who just did something slightly terrifying.
I closed my practice. Left the clinical world. And built something I’ve been thinking about for a long time.
It’s called Unlonely Together. It’s a conversation space for people craving real human connection. No diagnoses. No treatment plans. No red tape. Just two people actually talking.
This blog is the thinking behind it. The observations, the stories, the things I notice about how humans connect… and how we get in our own way.
Here's what I know after 12+ years of listening:
Loneliness isn’t what most people think it is.
It’s not always about being alone.
It’s about being unseen.
You can be married, surrounded by friends, never eat a meal by yourself… and still feel profoundly, quietly, exhaustingly lonely.
Because loneliness isn’t about proximity.
It’s about whether anyone in the room actually knows you.
Most people are starving for that. And most people have no idea how to ask for it.
I've always believed that people today crave authenticity in a way previous generations never allowed themselves to. And I think that's why loneliness feels so acute right now. We know what real connection could feel like. We just don't know how to get there.
That’s what this blog is about.
A little about me beyond the credentials:
I am a true elder millennial. Born in 1986.
Which means I grew up watching TGIF every Friday and MTV Spring Break every spring. I wore JNCO jeans with pressed-on patches. Butterfly clips, glitter, Lisa Frank, and Beanie Babies were life.
But underneath all of that?
I struggled.
With identity (I’m biracial). With a jealousy I didn’t know how to place. With feeling unliked. With feeling like I was always just slightly outside the circle.
So I did what any resourceful, emotionally starved child does.
I invented boyfriends.
Ghost boyfriends. Full storylines. I even named them. I recently found my childhood journal and one of them I named Andy Daklynn. I was out here manifesting relationships before manifesting was a thing.
One summer day I waited… genuinely waited… all day for my ghost boyfriends to appear. And then, as luck would have it, three boys walked by my house. I was ecstatic. I wish there was video footage of how unhinged I was in that moment.
They were, of course, just three regular human boys. Not ghostly Andy and crew.
My Gen Alpha son loves to give me shit about this. First of all- screw him. But also, rightfully so.
I have a lot more stories like this. And I’ll tell them along the way.
But what I’ll say for now is this: I spent most of my life making myself small. While simultaneously yearning for human connection more deeply than almost anything else.
That yearning eventually led me to become a licensed psychotherapist. I spent 12+ years working with humans and learning how we think, how we connect, and how we get in our own way.
What you can expect here:
At least one post a week. Every week.
Sometimes it’ll be a story. Sometimes an observation. Sometimes a hot take about loneliness or friendship or why we’re all performing so hard all the time.
Always honest. Never more than a few minutes to read.
Just real writing from a real human who thinks about connection probably more than is normal.
If Something Lands, Share It.
Not for me. For the person in your life who needs to read it and doesn’t know it yet.
The whole point of Unlonely Together is that nobody should have to feel alone.
Starting here.
Welcome. I’m genuinely glad you found this.
